I work in a secondary special needs school for students with severe, moderate and mild mental disabilities. I have a coordination function called 'technical advisor'. This means I have to coordinate things like internships, the purchase of materials, teachers' meetings an so on. I am also responsible for ICT and the European projects at our school.
A few years ago I heard about eTwinning, the community for schools in Europa. Together with my students I started a project with 2 other European schools. At that moment I became aware of the value of European projects for a school and its students.
In 2009 we started a Comenius project about autism. Together with partners from Italy, Romania, Turkey and Ireland we created a website with materials for teachers who are working with students with autism.
At this moment I'm active as an eTwinning ambassador and mentor for Belgium. I give workshops and I try to help eTwinning starters with their projects.
